ICD Durgapur has plans to expand its activities and double its double its container handling turnover with fy 2011-12. Towards this end there is plan for the following :
- Expand the ICD area from present 6 acres to a total of 24 acres. Out of this additional 18 acres, 6 acres of land has already been aquired and is currently under development.
- Develop a railway tract in collaboration with concor. Towards this end icd durgapur intends to enter into an mou with concor very soon.
- Expand the facility of container storage yard so that empty containers can be made available at durgapur, thus saving on the one way transportation cost of the export ers in this region.
- Develop bigger warehouses and storage facilities.
- Induct more modern equipments for much faster cargo handling.
