Allied ICD services ltd was incorporated in the year 2006. The promoter, PDP group (eastern india premier logistic company since 1952), holds the majority stake in this company. Along with this there is participation of a german company named M/s.Peter rathmann gmbh in this venture. the promoters have considerable experience & exposure in shipping, handling & transport business all over india.
With the increase in trade activities there is also a big demand for quick movement of goods, proper warehousing and distribution infrastructure to address the problems of delay in entire distribution network. A large number of hubs have already been developed in different parts of the country to support distribution activities.These hubs are commonly known as inland container depot (ICD). The ICD brings great relief to the gateway ports as the full gamut of activities required by the importers and exporters inside the port, can also be carried out at ICDs and the ports can concentrate on their core activity of acting as a facilitator of quick loading and unloading of ships.
With a view to bring in the facility to export and import goods from close to their factories or plants, the concept of setting up an icd at durgapur was conceived.In this way the exporters and importers of bihar, jharkhand, assansol and durgapur belt would benefit to a great extent as they would be able to store and stuff the cargo and also would be able to complete all the customs clearance formalities within durgapur instead of kolkata. This would reduce the cost of export & import as a whole.In short, the exporters and importers would get the entire service under one roof only for the first time in this region. The proposed icd would reduce the inventory holding cost and as a result the total cost of import or export would be reduced to a great extent.
Therefore, the ICD durgapur was finally launched solely to develop the hinterland infrastructure to facilitate the exim trade only. It was started on a six acres land at EPIP (export promotion industrial park), Banskopa, Durgapur and is very close to the major highway NH-2 which is part of the golden quadrilateral network. The road distance from the kolkata port is approx 180 kms and from Haldia port approx 310 kms.
The land is obtained basis lease agreement from the govt through ADDA (asansol dutgapur development authority) for 70 years.
Over the years the ICD has developed into an extremely useful infrastructure for this highly industrialised region in west bengal. The interested trade parties in the region have much benefitted as the ICD durgapur provides complete supply chain management including container handling, transportation and warehousing etc.

The ICD is a common user facility having a full fledged customs house functioning within its customs notified area. All facilities pertaining to customs clearance including appraisement, duty payment, export permission etc readily are available in icd durgapur.
